PSYCHIATRY

Psychiatry is a branch of medicine that concentrates on the diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.  The Psychiatrist, a medical doctor (M.D. or D.O.) also specializes in the prevention of these disorders.  Disorders that Psychiatrists treat and improve may include panic attacks, anxiousness, sadness, hopelessness, thoughts of suicide or hearing voices — conditions that never seem to lift, causing the inability to function comfortably in everyday life.
